Goal: this course provides students with a conceptual and practical understanding of the principles of statistically-designed inventories as tools for monitoring forests and sustainability of forest management.

Course contents
Monitoring Sustainable Forest Management (SFM): criteria and indicators
Data collection: field survey and remote sensing derived variables
Descriptive statistics
Sampling error and sample size determination
Correlation and regression estimation
Sampling designs in forest inventories
Integrating remote sensing in forest inventory
Remote sensing for covariates
