Life Unit 1b p.12-13. Wordbuilding skills-the use of prefixes and suffixes.
GRAMMAR- the Passive - the use of the passive is prevalent in academic written texts and is important for students to use it in formal writing. The passive makes writing more formal because it 'distances' the speaker/writer from the listener/reader.
SELF-STUDY: Reading text Unit 1c, p.15.
Discussion on Migration/Emigration and reading 1c p.14-15. Unit 1d p.16 -functional language for meeting people you know.

Also, we use the present simple for future use (for schedules & timetables) & 'about to' + infinitive (in Italian 'sta per fare qualcosa) - see explanation in Murphy or p.159.

L’esame consiste in una prova orale che intende valutare le capacità interlocutorie del candidato e la sua conoscenza, anche grammaticale, dei testi presentati durante il corso, che si orienteranno sui dettami del livello B2 del QCER.
Potrebbe essere somministrato un test scritto in itinere il cui esito, in tal caso, verrebbe considerato ai fini del voto finale. ***N.B. Se in possesso di una certificazione internazionale Cambridge ESOL (FCE [B2] o superiore) oppure di una certificazione IELTS con un punteggio di almeno 6 su 9 in tutti gli skills, lo studente può richiedere di essere esonerato dal sostenere l'esame, purché tale certificazione sia stata conseguita da non più di 1 anno dalla data dell'esame stesso.
