Programma

A) Training objectives
Students are beginning to overcome the analysis of traditional forestry economics in favor of the environmental economy that focuses on capital natural, forest ecosystems and ecosystem services in order to increase the human well-being.
The course provides students
* Concepts of natural capital and ecosystem services;
* Criteria for assessing natural capital, ecosystem services and environmental assessment procedures;
* Characteristics of forest heritage and limits of natural resources
* Issues related to the sustainable management of forest resources and related activities;
* Description of forest multilevel institutional system, forest focused policy and related policies;
* Tools for the conservation and enhancement of forest resources;
* Non-market valuation tools

B) Expected learning outcomes
Overcoming the firm's vision of forest in favor of the ecosystem forest;
Knowledge and ability to use assessment tools
Perception of the complexity of forest ecosystems, their limits and opportunities when sustainable management is implemented;
Ability to understand the complex system of multilevel forestry policy;
Getting familiar with forest protection and enhancement tools;
Knowledge of non-monetary valuation tools


C) Program
1. Recall of elementary economy concepts.
2. Environment Economics. Environmental, public and external goods. The curve of Kutznet. Demand, supply and market equilibrium in the presence of environmental goods. The economic system and development indicators. Strategies to include the environment in the economic system
3. Natural resources and forest ecosystem services and disservice. Source, characters, role, and classification
4. Evaluation of forest ecosystem services: Total economic value. Methods of assessment of environmental assets: a) market approaches; (B) non-market approaches.
5 Environmental investment assessment: cost-effectiveness analysis; cost benefit analysis.
6. Forest ecosystems: Heritage, distribution, qualification and degradation processes.
7. Management of Forest Ecosystem Resources: Sustainable Forest Management and Sustainability Types. Sustainable management of forests, wildlife, zootechnics and tourism.
8. Institutions and forestry policies: The forestry institutional system. Focused and related forest policies.
9. Forest protection and enhancement tools: policy tools; legal and regulatory; financial; market-based; technicians; volunteers, negotiators, and consumer orientation.
10. Preventive assessment of plans, program works and interventions: Strategic environmental assessment. Environmental impact assessment. Incidence assessment.
